||This case-study presents possible fields of applications for alternativescience measures on grant-supported research publications. The study is basedon plosOpenR, a set of functions for the statistical computing environment R.plosOpenR facilitates access to the application programming interfaces (API) providedby Open Acces publisher Public Library of Science (PLOS) and OpenAIRE,a Open Access infrastructure for European funded research. These functions canbe furthermore used to visually explore PLOS-Article Level metrics, a collectionof alternative science impact measure. 1,166 publications acknowledging fundingwithin the Seventh Framework Programme of the EU are reported. Distributed over624 projects, alternative metrics based on this sample and corresponding collaborationnetworks are presented. Findings reveal the potential of reusing data, thatare made openly and automatically available by publishers, funders and repositorycommunity.
